National Law Enforcement Memorial Sponsorship
Sep 29, 2010 (10:46:00)
Hello everyone. Over the past month there have been a few things to let you all know about. Over the past month the Eboard has attended a few conferences with the AFL-CIO, CWA, and last weekend the NCPSO conference. These conferences had a few classes that were informative however the best thing about these conferences is the networking and meeting people from other jurisdictions. We had numerous discussions with these other jurisdictions about their issues and our own.
One person the Eboard met again was John Shanks. He is a retired Officer who now works for the National Law Enforcement Memorial Museum. He gave a very good presentation about what the National Museum will look like and some of the things that will be on display. The great thing about this museum is it has officers assisting in designing a museum about officers. The cost of this project is 80 million. They are very excited because they have been working on this museum for 10 years and just a few months ago they were able to get to the half way mark of 40 million. Because of this achievement they are now able to break ground, which they will be doing in October of this year. Your Eboard has decided to embrace this project with a five thousand dollar donation each year for the next five years for a total of twenty five thousand. This museum is going to be utterly amazing and I’m proud that we will be a part of its making. You can also visit their website at http://www.nleomf.org
